I've developed some small applications for Apple's iPod that primarily consist of "blank" Mp3 files that contain text data that you can manipulate in various ways. The first of these apps, iShop, is available immediately, with other applications hopefully to follow soon.

Using iShop is easy, and it'll keep you organized at the supermarket! (Does not work with iPod Shuffle since it doesn't have a screen, and although it will technically work with the iPod Touch or iPhone, there are apps on the iTunes App Store that may be more suited to those devices).

INSTRUCTIONS

To use iShop, Simply download the file below and unzip it. Inside, you'll find a folder that contains over 300 "blank" mp3's (they contain no audio data and are less than one second in length). These mp3s have various names like House: Drain Cleaner or Snacks: Ice Cream. In Addition, there are nine custom tracks for you to add your own often- bought items to the list.

From there, use iTunes to create a new playlist called, for instance, "Shopping" and drag the iShop folder to the Shopping playlist. Then sync your iPod.

To use iShop on the go, simply navigate to the Shopping playlist on your iPod, find the item in the list you want to remember to purchase, and hold down the center select button on the iPod. This ads the item to your on-the-go playlist! Worried about using up you on-the-go playlist exclusively for iShop? Not a problem. With Apple's newest iPod update, most iPods now support multiple on-the-go playlists so you can create a shopping list AND a music list without having to return to your computer!
